Pelvic Floor Therapist
As a pelvic floor therapist, I can treat specific dysfunctions of the pelvic floor (frequency, urgency, leaking, pain) and musculoskeletal conditions that the pelvic floor effects (low back pain, hip pain, diastasis recti). Pelvic floor therapists are specialists in the core and hip girdle.
My Start
Hello, I’m Dr. Bri. I grew up in North County, Saint Louis, and attended high school in Saint Charles. I then moved on to the University of Dayton where I earned my Bachelor’s in Pre-Physical Therapy (Go Flyers!) Wanting to stay close to family and avoid extra out of state student loans, I pursued my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Missouri State University.
My clinical career began in neurologic and medically complex rehab, where I had the privilege of working with a diverse group of patients. During this time, I became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist through the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy. My interest in lymphatics grew from my family’s history with untreated lipedema and through the amount of patients with swelling that had no related diagnoses. As much as I loved my patients in this fast—paced, group therapy setting, I did not feel like I was utilizing my skills as well as I could and often felt like I was dismissing patients. I then decided to switch settings to see if another setting felt more “right.”
From there, I honed my skills in orthopedic, lymphatic, and oncologic settings, becoming certified in the Strength After Breast Cancer program and gaining hours in hands-on lymphatic treatments. I also expanded my expertise into pelvic physical therapy after seeing its profound impact on cancer survivors, as well as through my personal experiences throughout undergraduate and graduate school with pelvic pain, dysregulated cycles, and ovarian cysts. (Still shocked I never formally got referred to pelvic floor PT!) I’m certified in internal vaginal and rectal pelvic floor examination and treatment as well as pregnancy and postpartum. As passionate as I am about the work I do with pelvic floor and lymphatics, it didn’t take long before this setting didn’t feel “right” either.

The Transition
While I greatly valued my work in these areas, I still felt like there was something missing. I felt that I wasn’t able to truly listen to my patients and provide the individualized care that would enable them to achieve their fullest potential. I didn’t want my practice to be measured by the number of patients I saw in a day, but by the meaningful improvements in my patients’ health and how confident they felt in their progress. I also witnessed many individuals falling through the cracks due to insurance limitations and the pressure to standardize treatments. This led me to create a practice that would offer more personalized, holistic, one-on-one care.

The mission of Optimize is a simple one. Treat each PERSON. Optimize does not treat just a diagnosis by giving a sheet of standard exercises. Dr. Bri is passionate about understanding and educating on the why of your symptoms and providing hands-on correction. With Dr. Bri’s specialties in lymphatic therapy and pelvic floor, your concern is treated thoroughly and with personalized care. Through caring and effective treatment, Dr. Bri hopes to spread awareness to the benefits of therapy specifically for lymphedema, lipedema, and pelvic floor. Each of these specialities are often under-treated due to lack of awareness of how therapy can help improve function. She hopes to expand this awareness and increase access to treatment in Saint Charles County.

I know what it feels like to be dismissed or misunderstood by healthcare providers, ( I was a patient and also a clinician asked to treat 3 patients at a time!) which is why I’m committed to truly listening to you. Every part of you matters, and your experience deserves to be heard. I take the time to understand the why behind your symptoms and provide personalized, hands-on treatment tailored to your unique needs. With expertise in lymphatic therapy and pelvic floor health, I’m here to offer care that respects your individuality and supports your healing journey. Additionally, I am dedicated to promoting preventive care, particularly through lymphatic drainage, because I believe that you shouldn’t have to wait until you experience pain or dysfunction to seek specialized care. Chronic inflammation = Chronic disease!
Beyond PT
When I’m not working to expand access to lymphatic and pelvic care, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my lab, Mrs. Butters, whether hiking or walking. Staying active is important to me, and I love being outside, especially near water.
I am currently working on renovating my home and look forward to having a beautiful garden one day (help!). I am also trying to hone in on my sourdough skills and move on to canning what hopefully grows in the currently non-existent garden! I enjoy reading research articles in my specialty areas, but I also unwind with a good fictional suspense novel. In the future, I aim to attend more seminars on fat and lymphatic disorders and one day experience the Northern Lights in Norway.
