Frequently Asked Questions

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues at the base of the pelvis that supports organs like the bladder, uterus, and rectum while aiding in urinary and bowel control, sexual function, and core stability. Some signs of pelvic floor dysfunction include leaking and urinary incontinence, difficulty with bowel movements, constipation, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, painful periods, low back/hip pain, diastasis recti, or a feeling of heaviness in the pelvic area.

A certified lymphatic therapist can be a chiropractor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, or massage therapist that has received advanced training in lymphatic drainage, reduction, and maintenance. This advanced training includes how to treat lymphatic systems that are intact but slowed and those that may be altered from surgery/chemotherapy/radiation/disease.

The lymphatic system is a vital part of the body’s immune and circulatory systems. It consists of a network of lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, and organs such as the spleen, thymus, and tonsils. The system works to transport lymph—a clear fluid containing white blood cells, proteins, and waste products—throughout the body and to your kidneys/bladder in order to excrete waste/toxins.

No! Although a CLT is trained to treat specific diseases including lymphedema, lipedema, and venous insufficiency; most people can benefit from manual lymphatic drainage. Manual lymphatic drainage sessions include soft tissue techniques and personalized stimulation of lymph nodes and manual routing of lymphatic fluid. Optimizing your lymphatic system can improve fatigue levels, immunity, swelling/bloating, increase your rest and digest nervous system, improve muscle recovery, and improve signs of general inflammation including joint/muscle pain.

All genders and ages experiencing signs of pelvic floor dysfunction can see a pelvic floor therapist. At Optimize, Dr. Bri specializes in women’s pelvic floor, including prenatal, postpartum, premenopausal, and postmenopausal. Dr. Bri believes that any woman that does not feel confident in their connection to their floor benefits from pelvic floor therapy. Due to her own experience with pelvic floor therapy and dysfunction, Dr. Bri knows that pelvic floor therapy is not always offered as a treatment for painful periods/leaking/and other common issues. She has the goal to increase access to care so all women feel confident in their floor!

There is one upfront price (see below) with no surprise billing months later. After your visit, Dr. Bri can email you a form called a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network physical therapy benefits. The billing amount goes towards your deductible.

Superbills are not available for wellness visits as insurance does not provide coverage for wellness care.

Optimize is an out-of-network provider that provides care without the constraints of insurance company regulations. We accept payment in the form of cash, check, credit/debit card, HSA (health savings plans), and FSA (flexible spending accounts). This allows us to help provide optimal care while still providing you with resources to use your insurance.

Wellness services are to be used when there is no significant pain or dysfunction. Common examples include following discharge from physical therapy to bridge the gap between PT and independent exercise, for proactive or preventative reasons, or for lymphatic drainage massage to support wellbeing.

Wellness services ensure that you continue to make progress and prevent the recurrence of issues, addressing the common problem of relapse when people do not maintain their exercise routines.
